28. Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? Television, newspapers, magazines, and other media pay too much attention to the personal lives of famous people such as public figures and celebrities. Use specific reasons and details to explain your opinion.
With the considerable improvement in technology applied to mass media, the problem of content in publications such as newspapers, magazines, and television programs, has become the focus of public concern. Although some who hold this view that it is right media concentrate on the personal affairs of famous people claim that the information provide real aspects of those people, I am convinced that media have wasted too much pages and time to spy public idol.
The main reason lies on the fact that the media spare no effort to collect all kinds of public figures' secrets just to feed the readers' curiosity. A recent survey by Sina.com, one of the largest portal company of Internet, indicates that teenages spend more than 60% of their spare time to read and talk about the personal lives of their favorate stars. Moreover, it is no doubt that by composing those appealing stories, the media has been increasing their publicaton and hence taking in large profit.
An additional fact is that the things people talking all day about celebrities are mostly hand to be verified, and take people too much time to pa attention to them. Take my young bother for example, he is a crazy fan of Jackey Chen. His room is full of magazines and CDs about Jackey, and he never forget to memtion the star while talking with others. However, his spent less time to finish his homework and review, so you can image the result. In other words, people should put their own business on agenda rather than fasten their eyes on so-called news.
Nevertheless, information that the media provided still include some valuable things that deserve people's attention. On the one hand, some information concentrate on the celebrities' personal affairs, such as their wedding or their accidents, actually, are extremely usual execpt that the protagonists are a little bit unusual. On the other hand, such information as the efforts and experiences important to the figures' success, are indeed worth of people's attention. In short, people can spend some time to judge whether the information is helpful or not.
On balance, despite the fact that famous stars may offer their advices for success in media publication, other nonsense affairs composed by the publishers flood over those useful information. Therefore, media should refine their materials to the meaningful part to cut down both its and readers' cost.
