you’re prepared for our <discussion> today. But, before we start. I’d like to mention a few things your text doesn’t (go into

They provided shipping protection for (merchants 尤指外贸批发商) as far back as 3000B.C.In general, the contracts were often no more than(仅仅是) verbal agreements. It seems like only yesterday that I were sitting where you are, just finishing my first year of medical school and wondering if I’d ever get a chance to use all my new <knowledge> in a real live patient. Well, I have good news for you. You don’t have to wait until your third four year of Medical school to get some hands-on <experience>. The dean has invited me here to tell you about the university’s rural <opportunity> program. If you enroll..记入名册) in this program, you can have opportunity this summer after first year of Medical school, to spend from four to six weeks observing and assisting协助) a real physician内科医生), like me in a small rural community. You won’t have to compete竞争) with other students for times and attention, and you can see what life as a country doctor is real like, This program are designed to encourage medical students like yourselves to consider careers in rural community that are still understaffed人力不足).It seems that medical students are afraid to go into rural families practice for two reasons. First, they don’t know much about it, and second (specialists专家) in the cities usually make more money, But, on the up-side, rural practice, doctors can really get to know their patients and be respected members of the community. I (participated参加活动) in the program when it first started and spent six weeks in a small rural town. Let me tell you, it was really great. I got to work with real patients, I watched birth of a child, assisted an accident (victim罹难者) ad had lots of really practice hands-on experience—— all in one summer, And to my <surprise>. I found that the country life has a lot to offer that city life doesn’t, no <pollution> or traffic jams. My experience made me want to work where I’m needed and appreciated. I don’t miss the city at all.

(Current当前的) studies show that what goes on labels in an important consideration for <manufacturers>, since more that seventy <percent> of shoppers read food label when considering whether to buy a product. A recent <controversy争议> as to whether labels on prepare food should educate or merely inform the consumer is over, and a consumer group got its way. The group had maintained that product labels should do more than simply list how many (grams) of (nutrients营养素) a food contains. Their contention was that labels should also list <percentage> of a day’s total nutrients that the product will supply to the consumer, because this information is <essential> in planning a healthy diet. A<government> agency disagreed strongly, favoring a label that merely informs the consumer, in other words, a label that only lists the (content含量) of product. The agency maintained that consumers could decide for themselves if the food is (nutritious有营养的) and is meeting their daily need. The consumer group, in supporting its case, had cited(cite引用,引证) a (survey仔细观察) in which shoppers were shown a food label, And were then asked if they would need more or less of a certain nutrient after eating a <serving> of this product. The shoppers weren’t able to answer the questions <easily> when they were not given a specific percentage. This study and others helped get the new regulation passed许可, and now food products must have the more detailed labels.
