First of all, to work as a flight attendant (fly tendens) with us, you must be accepted (a exceprice) into our training program, and with so many people applying (pla) it’s not easy to be selected (selaitd). From the thousands of applications that we receive annually (anuly), we choose fewer than a thousand (still social) people for training. So we require experience (it be excrement) serving the public. Also not everybody who gets accepted into (excep can) the training program makes it through (them true); the course meets six days a week for five weeks. The training includes extensive (costs don’t he) classroom work in such subjects as first aid and passenger psychology (pasenche) as well as practical training in flight procedures and meal (new)service. A lot of our graduates say that our fight attendants (all are tendens) develop the skills of a nurse, a head (had) waiter, and public relations executive.
* K2 k/ G' s9 N' N, zBut, as a flight attendant (fla tends) myself, I can say that all of the hard work is worth it. of course, I get to travel throughout the country, and the airline pays all of my expenses （expensive） while I’m away from my base station. And, what I like （wish my） best of all is that I’ve made friends with people from all over the country.

When you entered (whent) first year students this year, the school assigned (losidter) you to a dorm and a roommate. But next year as returning students, you’ll choose both your roommate and your dorm. The system (sisterto) gives priority to the students who have been here longest. Fourth year students get the first block of (lo) numbers, third years get the seconds block, and second years like you’ll be, get the third. Dorm space will be especially tight (is specially tied) this year because dorms on north campus will be close for renovations (readenses). This means that those of you who draw the worst numbers won’t be able to get dorm housing at all. In that case, the housing office will help you find off campus housing.

还好大意倒是没漏掉啥，就是最后那个以为排好靠后的话就只能住到学校外去了。那个地方，听得不好。主要我以为到了at all 就结束了呢。一听还有。。。。

I’m glad you brought up the question of our investigations into the makeup of the earth’s interior. In fact, since this the topic of your (will) reading assignment (simen) for next time, let me spend these last few minutes of (forment) class talking about it. There were several important discoveries in early part of this century that helped geologists develop a more accurate picture of the earth’s interior (receive terale). & J3 x4 n; J) C* {6 J- b
The first key discovery had to do with seismic waves (some), remember they are the vibrations caused by earthquakes (area quick). Well, scientists found that they traveled thousands of miles through the earth’s interior. This finding enabled (founding) geologists to study the inner parts of the earth (in you know to the earls). You see, these studies revealed that (review) these vibrations were of two types: compression or p waves and shear+ b7 n7 K5 E. @6 F+ R
(iwaps and shier) or s waves (eyesways), and researchers found that p waves travel through both liquids and solids (soland), while s waves travel (revovl) only though solid matter (solenai).
& p9 F' r7 e0 W/ x; v: w' d+ d) aIn 1906 a British geologist discovered that p waves (pway) slowed down at a certain depth, but kept traveling deeper (caviling dipe). Three years later, another boundary (bder) was discovered, that between the mantle (mantou) and the earth’s crust (craste).
