感谢棉花糖落落,我改了一遍.
The prevelance of movies and television opensa new page to our society, and it is undeniable that the mass mediaexercises great influence on each individual. In the last century theAmerican western movie wave prevailed around the world and made thejeans of cowboy a fashion trend in numerous countries. Today such influence becomes more and more significant as the information technology advances and nobody can ever get escaped.
First of all, movies and television provide a great number of talktopics. In the restaurant or in the office, we can often hear peopletalking about some films, sports games and even political events. Forexample, people begin to focus on international weapon trade after theywatch the movie “Lord of War”. As different people hold differentopinions on weapon trade, quite often, a normal talk may become adebate or even a quarrel between friends or workmates. As we all know,a plenty of movies or TV programs were produced to reveal socialproblems, and they are usually the source of people’s conversations during their spare time
Moreover, mass media sets examples to people and these examples can beeither positive or negative. A case in point is that a large part ofyoung people do not have critical minds to judge right and wrong, in other words, they will accept and follow all they have been taught. Most freqently, the mass media plays the role of teaching. Movies like “Forrest Gump”tell young people how to face life and difficulties correctly and howto strive for success, and they inspire people through positiveattitudes and ideas. By contrary, movies that are full of violence andsex often exert harmful impact on audience’s minds. As a result, more and more people, especially youngsters commited the crime when they imitated what they watched in movies.
Last but not least, mass media can call for social resonance. TVprograms are able to shape the thinking of audience and make aresonance among people. In most cases, one’s emotion and thoughtstrongly depends on what s/he hasseen and heard. For example, miserable scenes and background music arevery likely to make people feel upset and sad. After the earthquake ofWenchuan, China, all the TV programs reported the latest news in thedisaster area. Looking at the buildings clapsed to ground, injuried andhomeless people and brave soldiers in rescue teams, people cannot stoptheir tear and sympathy. After watching the programs, countless peoplefrom all over the country donated money and clothes to refugees, andthe whole nation became unprecedentedly united.
As a conlusion, movies and televisions nowadays do have directinfluence on people’s behavior, from our daily conversation topics toour perceptions of this world. We have to accept it as one of theindispensable means for relax, entertainment and information in ourlives.
