Though most of our knowledge is absorbed in book, it is really wrong to make such a decision that book is more important that experience as a source of knowledge, without consideration that knowledge is coming from experience, servicing for practical life and developing in our real society.

First of all, originally, knowledge, whatever it could be classified, comes from experience. When someone met some problems in his real life and a good solution is proposed, we could call it "knowledge", instead of being created by someone who publishes the book with his colorful imagination. Furthermore, our knowledge is confined by our horizons, which is related directly to practical life. No body, even he is Einstein, could think out the inner structure of certain particle, because we have not experience about it. We have never seen it. So, knowledge is based on experience.



Second, knowledge's significance is to benefit our lives. That is why we pay attention on knowledge, show our respect on who owns lots of knowledge and write into book which in ture is seen as the main source of knowledge by mistake! One example is presented here that when a man has learned how to mend a car, it makes sense only if he did mend car for others, or the technique of mending has nothing to do with knowledge. And the success of modern society should own to being accumulated knowledge. It is knowledge benefits us and it is also knowledge distinguish us from ancient human beings!

Finally, knowledge is developing in our society, not in the papers which made up the books. Since the invention of book, we can acquire knowledge from it. it could tell us what has been done, but it can not tell us what will be done. The trends and demands of knowledge is varying by the time and space, but not in the boring and stiff books. We have to update knowledge with the environment and the situation we are in. If an engineer do not keep step with changing knowledge, ten year latter he definitely will feel lagging.

To summarize, book and experience are both a kind source of knowledge. But the latter is also the aim and direction of knowledge. Therefore it is not difficult to answer the question: which one is more important.

Some people maintain that the knowledge gained from experiences is the most precious that one can ever has. On the contrary, some other people would argue that book is one's best teacher.
From my personal angle alone, my point of view coincides with the latter. The reasons I have are as follows.
For one thing, the books from which we could choose  cover a wider range of knowledge than a certain experience does. Admittedly, the knowledge gained from the experience may have been a better accepted by us and a longer memory as well. However, considering the limited time and energy an individual has, the knowledge gained in the book is a better choice. Even when some information escapes from us once in a while, we can immediately renew it from the book. Take cognizing some certain plants for example, you don't have to actually go to the field to have a better look in order to have a better memory. Instead, you can refer to a book with the pictures of the plants. Even when you forget their name in the future, just open the book.
For another, the money invested in the books is a better choice when compared with the investment on the experience for knowledge. As far as our students are concerned, we have almost no income if not taking account of the support from our parents. Besides, if learning the books from the library, the investment on books can be minimized. Thus, gaining knowledge from the books is indeed a better choice for us.
Admittedly, there are also some advantage in learning from the experience which we cannot deny. As the saying goes, practice makes perfect. But in my opinion, it should have the precondition that having some related theory from book.

Do you agree or disagree: Most people prefer others making decision for them than making a decision for themselves.

Nowadays, there is a hot saying that people prefer to make decisions by others rather than themselves. From my point of view, however, I strongly disagree with it. Our modern people are more independent than those before and want to be responsible for ourselves’ future.

To begin with, we have a deep understanding of ourselves and exactly know what we want to own in the future. Because of the rapid development of society, we have more time to contact with different kinds of people and do a great deal of practice work which will help us understand our advantages and disadvantages of ourselves. For instance, if one finds an apartment job as a seller in a mall which needs many communication skills with individuals, he does it very well. It implies that the man is open-minded and good at doing some practice work. On the contrary, a man failing in the selling work should choose other kinds of works which do not need many communication skills. Depending on the self-understanding, we can be more confident and desirable to make determination by ourselves.

In addition, we prefer to be responsible for ourselves and are not willing to complain others.
Nowadays, we have many opportunities and alternatives. It is possible that we will have different ideas on something with our parents. Taking choosing one's major as an illustration, you want to choose a major that you are interested in such as arts, while your parents want you to choose the medical major for good job. On that condition most of youth will follow their own desire now. For the reason they are not willing to regret in the future.

It is true that we should ask others’ suggestion before making the determination. We can get advices from those experienced men who can help us making decisions as right as possible and it will let us save a lot of time.

So from all the analysis made above, we can conclude that people are more willing to make decisions by themselves rather than depending on others. They just ask for some suggestions sometimes.
