The professor demonstrates her idea by one experiment which researches monkeys. The male monkey tends to choose cars, trucks, and such toys for boy, while female monkeys prefer to play with dolls. Researchers also do some experiment on boys and girls and get the same result.
The second point that the lecture casts doubt is that younger children in both sexes play with dolls and trucks. There is no difference in the toys the younger girls and boys choose to play with. In contrary, the reading material states that the toys are tools which are given to children to learn gender roles and accept them as normal. And then the professor states that there will have differences on the toys choosed by boys and girls as the growth of children. At about 5 years old, most children will say that one certain toy is either for girls or for boys. This point supports the idea of reading that clearly separate classes of toys exists for girls and boys.
