51. Some people believe that success in life comes from taking risks or chances. Others believe that success results from careful planning. In your opinion, what does success come from? Use specific reasons and examples to support your answer.
In response to this issue, a fair proportion of people argue that taking risk play a quite important role in one's success. However, as far as I am concerned, I totally agree with the statement that success results from careful planning. Although taking risk has something to do with success, careful planning is the most significant factor for success. Of the numerous reasons or facts, I will state the most consequential and conspicuous ones to elaborate my argument in the following passages.
When we talk about the contribution of careful planning to success, the first thing comes into my mind is precise control of your actions. You must know which step you are in, and what's the next step. With out careful planning, you will fall into totally mess. For instance, when I was preparing for College English Test last year, I had a careful plan. With that plan, I can figure out that reading is my strongest point, and I need just a week to prepare, speaking is my weak point, so I need 20 days to prepare. With this plan, I can precisely control my schedule, benefit from that, I scored 610 in the test, that's a quite good score. On the other hand, my friend Joy took the same test as mine, but he didn't have a careful plan. At last, he spent too much time on speaking, but had no time to prepare for writing. Imaginably, his result turned out to be failing. Therefore, the most striking conclusion is apparent that precise control of you actions is very important, and thus careful planning is very important.
Further more, careful planning can divide you target into small goals, thus can make it much more easy to achieve. My personal experiences have demonstrated that the dividing of big target is very important for success. When I was in high school, my biggest goal is entrance Tinghua University. This is a huge goal and very hard to achieve, however, I have three small and much easier goals: enter top 100 after first year, enter top 20 after second year, and get offer from Tinghua University at the end of third year. Under these three sub-goals, there are much more smaller goals. With this careful plan, I can achieve my goal step by step, and till now, I have been studied in Tinghua University for 3 years.
In addition, we have to admit a matter of fact that nothing is absolute, in other words, everything is relatively. Admittedly, there is no denying that taking risk is a factor for success too. Like stock exchange, if you want make money, you must take risk. However, taking risk didn't mean taking it blindly, in other words, you must have a careful analysis of the stork you want to purchase, and you must make sure the potential benefits outweigh its potential costs. In my opinion, this analysis process is careful planning too. To summarize, taking risk need careful panning too, so we cannot emphasize the importance of careful planning too much.
In conclusion, although taking risk is conductive to success, we can not ignore the fact that careful planning is the most significant factor for success. Generally speaking, the later overweigh the former, based on this consideration, I support the idea that success results from careful planning.
