the tyle(title) of piece refers to (saint vstherine wheel )   ,who died on a wheel in 307 ad,nowdays,i can see (a catherine wheel is ) also the kind of fireworks ,and it look something like pinwheel,anyway ,(the dancer iscertainly full of ) for the fireworks.you see how (twyla tharp expores ) one family attempt to confond  the violence in merdern life.the central (symbol of the) work is pineapple... but exactly the peasant(what it represents ) has always created a lot of  controversy,as you watch, see if you can figure out .
. V; T0 Y" `) F2 d' Fthe music for this piece is full of the rhythmic energy of rock music.it was composed by david byrne... of rock  band talking heads? ,and lead dancer in this version was sara rudner,who is perfect suited to  the  tharp's adventurous choreography.

monticello was very much loved home  of thomas jefferson for over 55 years.jefferson who was, of course, the president, was also a great reader of(and)language  enthusiast .he reads wildly on   the different subject ,including architecture,he was't formlly trained in architecture,but as result of his study and obsevation of other buildings,he was able to help the design and build the house.he choose the site himself.naming  the estate monticello.which meaning little montain in italian.in  fact ,many of ideas behind the disirgn also came from the italian architecture andrea palladio  .who is the 16th centenry and who had great infllence on the architecture of  england .. a* q+ a7 B# A5 j2 C+ p. l0 l; S
jefferson ho,werever is ignoyed one of palladio's princioles  when . that is not to build in the high place.monticello's elevation made th e trasportation what was need  at the house for exemple food- especially difficulty .but the view from the state would't be as specular is jeffison has follow palladio's  advice.there  really no boundory between the house and the nature around it ,and   so jefferson was able to look out his beloved state of virginia from   his  wonder vantage point .now we'll go on to jeffison's library.

surprisingly,the competion among this leading  gourmet coffee business   will not hurt  any of them.expert predict that gourmet coffee market in the unite states is growing and will continue to grow to the point that gourmet coffee will soon capture half what is now a one point five million  dollor market  and will be eight million  market by 1999. ; k! : m3 T0 h8 U+ n4 Myou may remember that a few weeks ago ,we discussed the question of what the photogrophy is ,is it art ,or is it a method we reproducing the images?do photography  belong in the musics or just in the homes.today,i want to talk about a person who try to make his professional life an answer to such questions.alfred stieglitz went from the united states to germany to study engineering.while he was there.he became intrested in photography and became experiement with the camera.he took the picture on the condition that most photography conside too difficult.he took them at light in the rain and people objects  were flight in the windows.when he continue the reverlusion in the efforts,stieglitz were the first person to photography skyscrapyer.clouds and  view from the airplane.
% R, ~5 ~" }8 T5 ^  U. ]* Wwhat stiglitz was trying to do in these photographs. was what he tried  to do throughout  his life.make photography and art.he felt that  the photography could be just  as good a  form of self -expression as painting and drawing.for stieglitz,his camera was his brush.for many photography,while many photograph of the late 1800's early 1900's thought  of their works as reproduction their identical  images.stieglitz thought his as creat art form ,he understood the power of camera to capture the moment.in fact ,he never retouch the presence or may copy them.if you were in class today.i am sure  he 's say,well ,painter don't normally make exertra copies of their painting ,do they?

so,um...as jim said,james polk was eleven president and or my reports about next president  ---zachary taylor.
) k$ @, D: t% A# Mtaylor was elected in 1849,it's surprising,because he was the first president who didn't have any previous  political experience,the main reason he was  chosed as  the candidate president was because he was  the war hero.
# w2 T% Y' m; z8 U" V7 Din the army ,his men called him "old rough and ready"...i guess because of his ''rough edges '.he was kind of blunt  and didn't really look like military hero.he like to do thing like wear civilian clothes intead a uniform even in a battle,and he was so shot and plumed he had to be lifted up on to his horse but he did win in lot of  battles he became more popular.  so the whig party decided to nominate him for the presidency,even though no one knew anything about where he stood on the issures.
6 c6 J9 E$ {0 R/ U6 j( di could't find much about the accomplishment probably because he was only in the office about a year and half before he died.but one thing ,he pushed for the development the transcontinuental railroad because he thought it was  important  to form a link with the  westcoast,there is a lot of wealth in california and oregon from commerce and minerals and stuff.also.he established an agriculture bureau in the department the interior and promoted more govement to agriculture.

before we begin our tour ,i'd like to give you some backround information on the painter grand wood.

wood was born in 1881in  iowa farm country.and became intrested in art very early in life.although he study art in both minneapolis and at the art institute of chicago.the strongest influence on his art in european.he spend time in both germany and france,and he study there helped his shape his own stylized form of realism., R- \, {7 l3 L) S2 K
when he return his iowa,woodd applied the stylistic realism he learned in europe to the rural life he saw around him ,and he remember for his childhood around the turn of  the century.his portraits of farm family imitate the static formalism of photographs of early settlers posed in front of their homes .his painter of farmer's at work and of their tools and animals.demonstrate a serious respect for life of midlewest in  the unite state.by 1930,wood was  a leading  figure of school of art  called american reginalism.
: ~9 _$ O3 h$ y  q8 R. min an effort to sustain a  strong midwestern movement ,wood established institute of midwestern  art in his home state.although the instute failed ,the paintings you are about preserve wood's  vision of the pioneer farms.* ~, R1 n; ^& r* c8 r
